Our chair positions require 1 hour or less of your time each month, spread throughout the month. Our on-going chair positions are great for someone who has small but regular amounts of time to give to the PTO each month.

Community Liaison

This Chairperson’s sole responsibility is to keep the PTO informed of decisions being made in the following areas:

Board of Finance
Board of Education
Woodstock School District

The Community Liaison holds the very important role of making sure that at least one PTO member attends each public meeting that the BOF and BOE holds.  Notes should be taken, and a summary of the meeting minutes should be posted on the Woodstock PTO website from each meeting attended.  The chairperson does not need to attend every meeting him or herself, but rather, can delegate and organize a signup sheet of attendance to other PTO members.

This person’s sole responsibility is to keep our Google Calendar up to date with all of the events happening inside and out of school that relate to our children.  Google calendar gives us all sorts of wonderful tools.  With a dedicated Calendar Chairperson, our calendar can really function as the one go-to calendar for any events relating to children in Woodstock.

Membership

This person’s primary responsibility is to organize membership drives at all major school and PTO events.  Membership drives involve coordinating volunteers to run a sign-up table, with 2-3 laptops connected to the internet to capture member signups via the electronic form on our website, and to collect the $5 signup fee.  The events where membership drives are most needed are:

Fall School Teacher Orientation Meetings, WES and WMS
Parent Teacher Conferences
WES Halloween Party
WES Holiday Fair

This chairperson’s responsibility is to stay in touch with organizations related to our schools such as the School District, Recreation Department, Woodstock Education Foundation, and the Board of Education and Performing Arts of Northeastern Connecticut and then post articles on the latest events for those organizations. This position is also in charge of keeping our PTO calendar up-to-date and in-sync with the school calendar as well as adding entries in for events happening with outside organizations.

If you like to stay informed on the latest happenings in and around Woodstock and share what you learn with others, this is definitely a great position for you!

Free Money Programs

What is a free money program? They are programs, such as “Box Tops For Education”, which benefit the school with free money and products. The Free Money Chair performs the very important job of research, compiling and sharing information on these programs and communicates with our parents via Constant Contact.

Original Works

See your child’s artwork printed on an array of fun items such as, mugs, mouse pads, and note cards! This fundraiser is held every other year (next year will be Fall 2012). The chairperson for this event coordinates with our FABULOUS art teacher, Mrs. Herklots and the vendor and to process the product orders. This vendor is very easy to work with and keeps you organized throughout the process!

This position is extremely rewarding because it allows you to connect with childrens’ artistic abilities in a way that benefits the PTO which ends up benefiting the kids!

Spirit Clothing

A new T-shirt design is underway! The Spirit Clothing Chairperson’s main responsibility is ordering new merchandise, and managing the sales of Spiritwear at our major events of the year, the Halloween Party and Holiday Fair.

Social Media Chair

This person’s responsibilities include keeping up with our Facebook page and reviewing and replying to our Twitter posts. If you’re a person that loves to send text messages, and who also loves to be on Facebook, this position is the one for you! In addition to Facebook and Twitter, this chair will also be responsible for updating our Flickr photo albums, and managing our SchoolTube video content.

Framed Art Chair

This chairperson’s primary responsibility is to arrange for the sales of our Framed Art Fundraiser.  The works of art featured on our Framed Art page are all available for “framing donation”.  When you purchase framing for a particular work of art, we will dedicate the work to a name of your choice, and place a plaque beneath the artwork.
